The Breda LRV2/LRV3 streetcars have been fully retired in San Francisco. Their final run took place on November 12, 2025. The Muni Metro system is now operated exclusively with Siemens S200 vehicles. |

Since August 20, BART and other Bay Area transit agencies now accept contactless payment with bank cards.
Riders can pay with physical cards or use NFC on their phones. This is especially convenient for visitors and occasional riders. |

The L Taraval light-rail line has reopened after a five-year reconstruction project. Crews replaced the tracks, overhead power lines, roadway surface, and underground water and sewer pipes. Street lighting was upgraded, sidewalks were improved, and new landscaping was added.
The most important change is the addition of new or significantly improved boarding islands, which have greatly increased passenger safety. |

The new 2,5 km-long segment of the MUNI Metro — Central Subway opens including three underwound stations Chinatown, Union Square/Market Street, Yerba Buena/Moscone, and one surface station 4th/Brannan. The new segment is connected with the rest of the network at 4th/King. The Line T — Third Street has been rerouted, and now operates between Chinatown and Sunnydal utilizing the new segment. |

New dedicated lanes have opened on Van Ness Avenue, allowing MUNI trolleybuses and Golden Gate Transit buses to move faster and more reliably, without getting stuck in traffic. |
