19.12.2025	More than 70 of the 90 Ebusco 2.2 electric buses will be taken out of service due to technical defects that have been identified. The cracks found in the vehicle bodies must be repaired in the first quarter of 2026. A corresponding agreement has already been concluded with the manufacturer.
14.12.2025	Traditional changes to the route network associated with the transition to the new timetable. Main points: Tram: • Trainsets of two GT6 trams will now operate on route M5 (similar to route M4) to increase the line's capacity. U-Bahn: • Eight-car trains (instead of six-car trains) are now required to operate on the U3 line. S-Bahn: • Line S45 (Südkreuz – Flughafen BER) is cancelled; • The number of trips on lines S46 and S47 is increased. Line S47 is extended from Hermannstraße station to Südkreuz station; • Line S85 is extended to Flughafen BER.
28.11.2025	Fire at Schloßstraße station on line U9. The U-Bahn service on the section between S+U Bundesplatz and S+U Rathaus Steglitz is permanently suspended due to damage to the infrastructure. A replacement bus service has been introduced as a matter of urgency, running between U Berliner Str. and U Walther-Schreiber-Platz stations.
21.11.2025	Last day of operation for the tram line along Boxhagener Straße and Marktstraße. The first closure of an operating tram line in many years. The 900-metre section between the Holteistraße and Marktstraße stops has been taken out of service due to physical wear and tear on the track. Tram route №21 is now divided into two parts. This is a consequence of the almost unprecedented failure to approve the project to build a new 1.2-kilometre route through Ostkreuz station. The approval process has been dragging on for eight years.
20.10.2025	Until 2 November, there is no train service on the U2 line between Senefelderplatz and Stadtmitte stations. The restrictions are due to work on installing a modern electronic centralization system (CBTC) at Alexanderplatz station. During the repair work, replacement buses are running between Anton-Wilhem-Amo-Straße (Mohrenstraße) and Senefelderplatz stations.

Первая линия электрического трамвая на территории нынешнего Берлина открыта Вернером фон Сименсом 16 мая 1881 года.
При разделении города на Западный Берлин и Берлин - столицу ГДР, сеть была разорвана на две части, и к 1967 году все трамвайные линии Западного Берлина были закрыты. Ныне в западной части города существуют только две трамвайные линии, продлённые туда после падения Берлинской стены.
Длина сети - 189,4 км. Имеется 377 остановок, курсируют 22 маршрута. Маршруты подразделяются на 9 маршрутов MetroTram и 13 обычных. MetroTram и MetroBus образуют сеть Metronetz. Эта сеть маршрутов позиционируется как дополнение к сети метрополитена и городской электрички в районах, удалённых от станций скоростного рельсового транспорта. Как правило, маршруты MetroTram курсируют ежедневно 24 часа в сутки, интервал составляет 10 минут в дневное время и не более 30 минут в ночное время, при этом ночью некоторые маршруты укорачиваются. Обычные маршруты трамвая курсируют, как правило, с 20-минутным интервалом до 01:00.
Маршруты MetroTram нумеруются по принципу их расположения. Так, радиальные маршруты из центра имеют однозначные номера, возрастающие по часовой стрелке. Например, маршрут M1 курсирует из центра по Шёнхаузер Аллее в северные районы города, а M8 – по Ландсбергер Аллее и бульвару Космонавтов на восток. Маршруты MetroTram с двузначными номерами - хордовые, их номер возрастает по мере отдаления от центра. Например, маршрут M10 курсирует внутри кольца городской электрички, а M17 соединяет жилмассивы на окраинах города.
До появления сети Metronetz в Панкове существовало несколько маршрутов с номерами 5х, после 2004 года среди обычных маршрутов остался только 50-й. Также существуют несколько маршрутов с номерами 6х в Кёпенике.

Берлинский метрополитен открыт в 1902 году, насчитывает 10 линий общей длиной 146 км. В 1961-1989 годах сеть метрополитена также была разделена, станции линий U6 и U8, проходящие под восточной частью города, не работали.
Сеть городских электричек S-Bahn - одна из двух систем в Германии (наряду с гамбургской), использующая нижний токосъём. Длина сети 331,1 км, имеется 15 маршрутов, обслуживающих 166 станций. Это единственный вид городского транспорта, не обслуживаемый компанией BVG.
Во времена "холодной войны" городская электричка была основным скоростным внеуличным транспортом столицы ГДР, в то время как в Западном Берлине её бойкотировали (так как она обслуживалась восточногерманской Deutsche Reichsbahn). Бойкот привёл к закрытию движения осенью 1983 года. В 1984 году западноберлинская BVG возобновила движение на некоторых линиях.
Примечательно, что западноберлинские электропоезда S-Bahn, а также поезда метрополитена (U6) обслуживали станцию Фридрихштрассе в Восточном Берлине, где был устроен пункт пограничного контроля.
