Chronology

08.2025 Construction has begun on the new 18-mile North Hollywood – Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line.
The route has 22 stops and connects the following cities: North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock and Pasadena.
The route will have transfers to the G Line in North Hollywood and the A Line, Memorial Park stop.
The route will be served by 16 units of 40-foot electric buses, located in Metro Division 9.
Currently, construction is in the design and utility survey phase. The planned opening date is 2028.
25.07.2025 Metro Line D has reopened. Trains will run at intervals of 8 to 12 minutes, as was previously the custom. The express bus route has been canceled.
17.06.2025 J Line and electric bus services have been fully resumed. Metro Local bus routes are expected to return to service closer to June 20.
13.06.2025 Light rail service has been restored, and the Chinatown, Union Station, and Little Tokyo/Arts District stations have reopened. However, bus routes 4, 28, 33, 40, 45, 70, 78, and 92 remain suspended. J Line buses and electric buses continue to be rerouted around the downtown area.
08.06.2025 Union Station, Chinatown, and Little Tokyo/Arts District stations on the A and E light rail lines are temporarily closed due to migrant protests that have erupted in Downtown Los Angeles. Express buses and J Line electric buses are being rerouted, resulting in travel times increasing by approximately 20 minutes. Bus routes 4, 28, 33, 40, 45, 70, 78, and 92 are currently suspended.
