As you can see these platforms are small, only 4m wide and just 60m long. Too small for a station in the city center under a square with a lot of events.
So when they renovate and rebuild this station (2025-2027) this platform will be 70m long and most parts 7m wide.

Station Groenplaats is one of the 3 oldest metro stations of Antwerp. It opened in 1975 as the end station of the first underground tram section together with Meir and Opera. In 1990 it was rebuild as a through drive station after the opening of the Brabo tunnel under the river Schelde and station Van Eeden, the only metro station on the Left Bank.
