Station Opera

Station Opera street level entrance at corner of Frankrijklei and De Keyserlei.
It was opened in 1975 together with Groenplaats and Meir. It closed on the 1st of September 2016 and was completely rebuild as a cross station. And opened again on the 8th of December 2019

It is the biggest metro station of Antwerp and is served by lines 3-5-9-10 and 15.

Station Meir

Station Meir: one of the 3 entrances on the South side of the shopping street Meir with elevator and new info screens. Until January 2025 only the West side station hall is open. The East side station hall is closed for the installation of new escalators. Also part of the platforms are closed for this work.

Because of the different colors of light and the fact that the station is rather dark, this station is very difficult to photograph. This was the 5th attend and now I am satisfied with the result.

In the back you see the exit of the Brabo tunnel under the river Schelde.
This station is different from the other Antwerp stations in several ways:
It is the only station on the left bank of the river Schelde.
It is the only station completely build with brick walls.
It is the only station with a vaulted ceiling.
