Pictured is a rare outing of the Key System Bridge car 182. It is a twin car with the Key System Bridge car 187 which is the usual workhorse on this line. On the day in question the car 187 broke down, hence 182 became a substitute.

Perhaps one of the best right-of-ways any museum in the US operates, and definitely the best in California. The line continues for 9,5 km and goes through the genuine undeveloped Californian landscape. While the official speed limit is 56 km/h, the tram was noted accelerating to about 70 km/h. Key System cars are very unique and look somewhat organic in this interurban setting. I genuinely enjoyed this ride.

Хотя официальное ограничение скорости составляет 56 км/ч, трамвай был замечен на скорости примерно около 70 км/ч. Уникальные вагоны сети Key System выглядят особо органично в данном ландшафте. Получил искреннее удовольствие от поездки по этой линии.

Повезло в том, что именно в эти дни в музее почему-то максимальный "пик" по выходам. Просто данное мероприятие с Хэллоуином как-то особо удачно раскрутили. Видимо, калифорнийская погода максимально распологает именно в это время года.

Вагоны под Хэллоуин делают дополнительную остановку, и можно перемещаться по частной собственности вокруг линии, и делать хорошие фото. В остальное время года хорошие фото вдоль линии возможны только с использованием машины (см. мою подборку фото с линии, скоро опубликую).

Ну не совсем везение, скорее, удачный сёрф по интернету на предмет "Что посмотреть в США, пока я там" :)

Cамые быстрые вагоны своего времени, скорость 145 км/ч. В 1930 г. было организовано соревнование с аэропланом. Утверждается, что трамвай выйграл, развив скорость в 156 км/ч.

Вагоны использовались тремя разными перевозчиками. В т.ч. работали на линии интерурбана между Цинциннати и Дейтоном, и далее на Толедо и Детройт. Общая длина трамвайного маршрута т.о. составляла 435 км.

Presumably, this is a copy of the original advertisement (message) that was once present at the time of delivery.
This tram was more than likely restored to its delivery condition, and such a message must have been part of it.

"One of 25 new streetcars now being delivered to your municipal railway" - what does it mean? Is this a kind of advertisement from the era of these cars' delivery to SF?

I know that too but it is difficult when you don't have a car available. Then you depend on the goodness of the local museum line whether I will come home with nice or boring photos. Fortunately, I have succeeded elsewhere (also without a car) in having my wishes met.

The 4001 did not run during my visit either: this tram was simply driven out of the depot, without being used that day.
Their collection is so extensive that they have enough vehicles to alternate weekly.
I am also very enthusiastic about the route and the material, but actually there is much more besides. Like everywhere: a shortage of volunteers makes it almost impossible to offer more than is currently the case.

Oh, God... I had exactly the same issue at this very spot two weeks later. I was able to cross the sacred track only because I established that I was a fellow railfan guest from another club, and they bent some rules out of solidarity. I have a clear photo from the same spot with no people in it. But even then I couldn't convince them to let me off the tram for a photo stop (even when they stopped the tram at other locations). So much for a heritage operation. They are scared of insurance regulations more than the love trams, a plague at many US museums these days.

In this case it is my turn to say - this is all a matter of perception. I actually liked this museum operation the most. This is perhaps one of the best right-of-ways any museum in the US operates, and definitely the best in California. Он вернулся из Портленда под номером 4011 и впоследствии снова стал 987.

Непонятно насчёт передач вагона: он указан, как переданный под номером 4011, однако на фото он явно под старым номером 987. Была ли перенумерация вообще?
