In this video we visit St Vincent's Plaza, a busy tram interchange on Victoria Parade close to the Melbourne CBD. The interchange serves as the junction where route 11 splits from routes 12 & 109 along the Collins Street tram corridor in the Melbourne CBD, as well as serving as the eastern terminus for route 30. Here we see some high floor A1 & A2 Class trams, C1 (Alstom Citadis) and some E1 & E2 (Bombardier/Alstom Flexity Swift) trams.
St Vincent's Plaza opened on the 24th July 2002 as one of the earliest accessible 'superstops' built in Melbourne. It's named after the adajcent St Vincent's Hospital, and replaced the original tram stop on the site. One of the original heritage-style tram shelters was retained and restored as part of the construction of the new interchange.
