Welcome to another Mixed Gauge Video!
Today we turn the clock back to August 2017 then slightly forward to around March 2018 to look at some street scenes of Melbourne's City Circle trams in various parts of the city, mainly around Carlton Gardens and the Docklands precinct. This video features the veteran W series trams from the 1940s and 1950s running in both City Circle burgundy livery and the more traditional Green and Cream as they carried in regular service.
Our video also catches a glimpse of various other classes of tram, some of which are seen in La Trobe St being diverted away from either Swanston or Collins Sts due to the usual protest marches that disrupt city life.
Things have changed a bit in 2021 with the City Circle trams in Melbourne, and so a more comprehensive series of videos will be produced at a later date to show these veterans as they are today.
