Tramsite Schepdaal

The N.M.V.B. (S.N.C.V.) once drove its trams all over Belgium and in Schepdaal it was possible to photograph trams of the 3 regions next to each other, where the 3 variants were also shown.
Left: an SE (E = expo, for the 1958 exhibition), for Brussels, where the N.M.V.B. continued to ride with trolleys until the end (1978).
Middle: an Spm (pm = adapted for the pre-metro) from Charleroi (Wallonia).
Right: an SO (O = Ostend), coming from the Coast (Flanders).
Such photo opportunities belong to the past unfortunately.

The photo shows the typical composition of those years. The older trailers were only used in last position when there was a lot of traffic. There were several reasons for this: most passengers used the first vehicles anyway (which were therefore more comfortable) and the last vehicle (which was the oldest) could therefore easily be uncoupled once the rush was over.
