For me, it remains difficult: it's not really a new tram. In the end, an old tram was delivered to build this “new” tram. Personally, I would never expect that in 2025 they would still be investing in this type of renovation or construction...

I think this is normal. Technically, the vehicle is no longer a real PCC. The original vehicle, a Tatra T3, was a PCC derivative. Moreover, the Tatra factory had obtained a license to build PCCs. One of the typical features of PCCs was indeed the pedal control. A lot changed during modernization - think of the brakes and suspension, for example - but pedal control remained the same (to my knowledge) everywhere.
The fact that this type of vehicle is still being built or modernized in 2025 proves that the original concept from 1935 - 90 years ago! - and what the Tatra factory in Prague built some 30 years later was not only innovative, but also apparently excellent.
