Probably the truth will never be known.
The owner of this bus (Van Rompaye) on the moment of shooting lost his contract with De Lijn. The last day was the 30th of June 2025.
Van Rompaye never ran on this route (61) but only on the routes to Kontich, from Berchem.
Was this bus already (not officialy) sold or rented to the new owner, which operate this route officialy since 01/07/2025? Or maybe to Mattheesen, which operated this route also till 30/06/2025 (and lost also his contract)?
The new owner (M4A) can operate only on an official way since 01/07/2025.
