There is no exact date for the Tatras to be withdrawn from service. It was rumored that after the arrival of the Astra trams, they would be withdrawn, but 6 trams still run daily on line 44.

STB has an ongoing tender for the purchase of 40 18m trams won by Electroputere VFU Pașcani in 2020, but for which the contract wasn't signed due to lack of financing. STB borrowed money from banks this year because, after many lawsuits, it was forced to buy them, but no contract has been signed yet.

Electroputere VFU Pașcani doesn't produce any trams (they only modernized a GT4 from Iași and some of the Armonia trams from Timișoara), but at this tender, following a response given to the press, Electroputere would have assembled Russian "PK Transport Systems" trams.

We are waiting for news. There is still a possibility, considering the sanctions against Russia, that Electroputere can assemble Astra trams, but at the moment these are just rumors. Another possible scenario would be to wait until the delivery time of the first „Russian tram”, Electroputere to have nothing to deliver and the contract would be canceled.

Which is curious, as PK Transport Systems produces 19m wide gauge (1524 mm) and 20m narrow gauge (1000 mm) trams and has no 18m models. And if trying to make 18m out of 19m model the manufacturer has to cut off 1 of 4 doors due to construction of the car. A 18m tram with 3 doors does not look a good choice :/

„18m” doesn't mean that they will be exactly 18 meters long, but to have an overview of the product. In RO we have Astra which has trams with 9 meter segments, so 18/27/36/45 meter trams.

I have looked up the requirements and the required length is between 17 and 21 meters with a minimum of 4 doors.

The trams are all that is left to update. The buses are all good the trolleybuses are also mostly up to date after the Solaris vehicles arrived. Now we just have to hope the trams will be updated.
