Due to the small number of two-way trams and the expected higher demand during the upcoming track renovations, used Düwag GT8SU trams from Düsseldorf were purchased in advance. Of the five units, two are for spare parts only and the remaining three are for operation. Only the most essential changes were made before they were put into regular service, in particular the installation of a check-in and information system and a change in the colour scheme of the vertical lanes.
