Я ещё понимаю что это мог бы быть сигнал для водителей автомобилей на остановках с выходом на проезжую часть,но:-логичнее было бы сделать это на задней двери, -в Бостоне вроде таких остановок нет

At the stops in the street area, only the first door is opened. This is extremely practical on the Breda, where the first door on the low-floor carriage is high-floor.

Correct. At all other stops with platforms, all doors are opened.
There is a driver in each carriage. So in a double traction there are two drivers in total. The second driver is responsible for controlling the doors in the second carriage, as this is apparently not transmitted from the leading carriage.
