The NMVB/SNCV's creativity was limitless. The tram company was responsible for transferring freight wagons between the famous (now defunct) Côte-d'Or factory and the railway station. When the horses used for this purpose were requisitioned by the army, this locomotive was built from some found and recycled parts.
There was only 1 problem: the factory had partially no overhead wires. This was solved this way: the wagons were pushed into the factory to where the catenary ended.
At the end of the catenary, a worker attached an insulated pole to the end of a cable from the locomotive, which then continued on its way, unwinding the cable behind it. On the way back, the cable had to be manually rewound...
