Pictured is the new post-1997 configuration of tramway lines through the city center, which includes a passage under the building on Am Volksbad. The tram line relocation allowed for a better service coverage of the centrally located Stadtzentrum Löbdergraben Stop.

The new low-floor trams were purchased by Jena prior to the opening of the new lines to the Lobeda apartment block developments in 1996-1997.
