Coast Tram, BN/ACEC type 6000 8-axle # 6034
  Coast Tram BN/ACEC type 6000 8-axle # 6034
Middelkerke, Zeedijk
A violent storm, accompanied by heavy rainfall, kept the coastal road inaccessible for more than 24 hours. The tram tracks were cleared relatively quickly (this is a priority) but the sticking sand on the asphalt took longer to remove.
The advertising tram has really been made to fit in with this environment: the horizon of the sea corresponds to the reality!

Amazing coincidence. Or was it a special effort? Looks great!

Of course, I was not involved in the design of this advertising.
Whether it is a coincidence that the proportions are so right, I can neither deny nor confirm it, although I suspect that it was intended here. This company not only makes a lot of advertising, but it is always very recognizable.

Thank you! Every disadvantage has its advantage. Because of Covid-19 I have to stay in my own country for the moment, but both my wife and I don't find it a problem going on holiday to our coast...
There are fewer trams on the route than during the summer, but also less traffic. In Zeebrugge there is hardly any freight traffic and that gave indeed photo opportunities (on the 2 bridges) that are almost impossible to realize during the rest of the year.
Will I go back to the coast in February (next holiday period)? The future will tell. 2021 will be an interesting year in any case, with the deployment of 4 different types of tram (Antwerp - Ghent - Coast BN - Coast CAF). Reasons enough to come back there...
Initially the intention was to keep a number of BN trams as reinforcement for the summer services.
This will not happen and they are all nominated for demolition once there are enough new CAF trams for the basic service.
The reason is twofold: on the one hand warehouse management, on the other hand avoiding the need for workshop staff to maintain 2 types of trams.
This means that transport to and from Antwerp and Ghent will still take place. Bearing in mind that a reduced timetable is maintained in those cities during the summer and a higher one on the coast, one can assume that this is a win-win situation.
