Total 40 M33, whereof 10 bidirectional ones. The numbers will be:
490-499 (bidirectional)
501-530 (normal)

Are bidirectional trams for the further extension or just replacing the old cars?

All the first 40 M33 will mainly replace the older M28 (built 1965-1967), the plan is also to get rid of the M29 but I personally don’t think this will be possible with the increasing traffic. Probably the M34 will be needed for that. The major reason for buying 10 bidirectional trams to Gothenburg is to be able to use them during construction works, all planned new lines will still have loops (as of now).
