Until 14/07/1965 there was a tram line 1 in Antwerp. The tram line was abandoned and the tracks were broken up. 40 years later, the error of that time was rectified and in April 2006 the route was put back into service — this time for line 12.
On 28/10/2006 we organized an excursion with PCC 7001: this was the advertising tram of the trammuseum and we put an original line indicator in the tram. PCC's never drove on the original line 1, although the number was present on the indicators.
In the autumn of 2019, the original line 1 will be fully restored: the entire route will be reconstructed and the line number will come back!
