Компания Tianshui Tram (через инвестиционную компанию Tianshui Urban Construction Investment Company) выиграла тендер на поставку 12 трамваев AnsaldoBreda/CRRC Sirio и связанных с ними запасных частей, которые остались неиспользованными после прекращения эксплуатации легкорельсового транспорта Чжухая. Общая стоимость этой покупки составила примерно 2,41 миллиона долларов США.

Начинает работу вторая очередь трамвая Тяньшуй, в том числе западный участок Jingkunxijunsanzhong — Wulipu и ответвление от Yangpo Dong до аэропорта Тяньшуй.

Открытие первой очереди трамвая от ост. Wulipu до ж/д вокзала. Протяжённость линии — 12,9 км.

Trolleybus operation in Tianshui comes to an end. The trolleybus system had an unreliable power supply, compounded by the use of steel overhead wires, as opposed to copper. As the trolleybuses were still relatively new at the time, two trolleybuses and various electrical equipment were exchanged with four buses from Lanzhou.

The trolleybus system in Tianshui is extended on both ends, now running from Dongshilipu to Tianshuijun. Two new Shanghai trolleybuses are procured for the extended route.

Tianshui trolleybus system commences operation on an east-west oriented 5.36㎞ trolleybus line, operated by a single retrofitted trolleybus produced by Tianshui Automobile Repair Factory. Tianshui becomes the fifth Chinese city to operate a trolleybus.
