All funiculars and elevators in Lisbon operated by Carris — including the Ascensor da Glória, Ascensor da Bica, Ascensor do Lavra, and the Elevador de Santa Justa — have been suspended until further notice following the deadly Glória crash. The company announced that each will undergo an extensive technical inspection, alongside a thorough review of all external maintenance contracts and internal safety standards, procedures, and operational policies. Authorities say the suspension is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and restore public confidence in the historic transport network. The decision comes amid a wider investigation into the cause of the accident, which has shaken the city and prompted national mourning.

The death toll from the Glória crash has now risen to 16, with 23 people injured.
