Testing of the new Urbos 3 trams began via the segment of track on John F. Kennedy Avenue. The 16-km long tramway line will be completed by 2020-21. The 3,6-km long segment of the line will be built without an overhead, trams will operate using battery auxiliary power. Passenger service via the first segment between LuxExpo & Pont Rouge is expected to commence on 10.12.2017.

Presentation of the new 7-section 100% low floor Urbos tram by CAF for the 1st segment of the tramway to be opened at the end of 2017. 21 such trams will be delivered. The complete new tramway will have 16 km. of track, with 3,6 km. segment operated using axillary power. The opening of the entire system is planned for 2020-2021.
