Tramway Line 24/29 Tollygunge — Bollygunge and tramway operations out of Tollygunge Depot have been suspended. Prior to closure Line 24/29 was operated with a single car with headways up to 2 hours. An attempt was made to resurrect operations out Kalighat Depot, the oldest on the system, located in the middle of the suspended route. The plan was to operate tramway service between Kalighat — Bollygunge. Overhead was reinstalled on a 400 meter-long segment between Kalighat Depot and the nearest tramway junction with former Line 24/29. However, the introduction of the service was stopped by the traffic police. Only two tramway services 5 and 25 remain in operation in Kolkata.
