The phase 1 of the yellow line MRT is put into service. The line uses Hitachi Rail Italy Driverless Metro trains.

The first route "Green Mountain Line" of the Danhai tramway is opened. The line Kanding — Hongshulin is 7.3 km long and has 11 stations linking the residential neighborhoods and and offices in the north of the city to the metro station Hongshulin. The hours of operation are 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM every day on 15 minute invtervals.

6 Srpanj 2015 god.

The Blue line (Bannan) is extended 1.9 km. After the opening of the station Dingpu in the southwest, the length of the metro lines in Taipei reaches 131.1 km.

The Songshan line extension is opened between Ximen and Songshan stations.
The Xiaonanmen line is discontinued and replaced by the new Green line through service, all trains from Xindian continue to Songshan and direct service to Tamsui is discontinued.

29 Studeni 2013 god.

A new line, the Xinyi line, opens from Chiang Kai-shek memorial to Xiangshan as a branch of the Tamsui line. There are 5 stations along a length of 6.4 km.
The Xiaonanmen branch line is extended to Taipower Building station.

29 Lipanj 2013 god.

The Xinzhuang branch of the Zhonghe-Xinlu (Orange) line is extended two stations to Danfeng and Huilong.

30 Rujan 2012 god.

Dongmen station opens, and the Zhonghe line and Xinlu line are connected, creating the Zhonghe-Xinlu (Orange) line. Direct train service from Beitou to Nanshijiao is discontinued.

5 Siječanj 2012 god.

The Xinzhuang line opens as a branch off of the Luzhou line operating between Daqiaotou and Fu Jen University, creating the Xinlu line.

The Bannan line is extended one station from Nangang to Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

3 Studeni 2010 god.

The Luzhou line opens between Zhongxiao Xinsheng and Luzhou stations.

4 Srpanj 2009 god.

Neihu line extension of the brown line opens between Zhongshan Jr. High School and Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center stations, creating the Zhahu line (renamed Wenhu in October).

The Zhonghe line opens as a southern extension of the Tamsui line from Taipei Main Station to Nanshijiao.

25 Prosinac 1997 god.

The Tamsui line is extended one station from Zhongshan to Taipei Main Station.

28 Ožujak 1997 god.

The Tamsui MRT line opens from Tamsui to Zhongshan with a branch line shuttle to Xinbeitou, the first standard metro line in all of Taiwan.

28 Ožujak 1996 god.

First rapid transit line ever in Taiwan is opened, the Muzha line between Taipei Zoo and Zhongshan Junior High School stations. The line uses the VAL 256 system made by Matra.
