The new Lavagnini — Libertà — San Marco section (generically called VACS) is now operative; with a length of 2,5 kilometres, it runs through Viale Spartaco Lavagnini, Piazza della Libertà and Via Camillo Cavour, to terminate in San Marco square; due to the latter street being one way only, the return section insists onto Via Giorgio La Pira and Via Alfonso Lamarmora. This route will be served by the extension of the T2 line, which will therefore abandon its previous terminus in Piazza dell'Unità Italiana.
