Alongside the opening of the Getty Center, an air-cushion funicular line was launched. The line operates two trains, each consisting of three Otis Hovair cars. The funicular is designed to transport visitors from the parking area to the museum, covering a distance of 0.75 miles (1.2 kilometers).

The trolleybus service is closed due to insufficient funding from the California Department of Transportation.

As a result of the merger of LATL (Los Angeles Transit Lines), PE (Pacific Electric) and MCL (Metropolitan Coach Lines), a new company responsible for public transportation was created — LAMTA (Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority)

Trolleybus route №2 "City Terrace—Hooper Avenue" is open, with a length of 16 km. 36 trolleybuses operate on the route.

The first 9-mile trolleybus route in Los Angeles has opened.
Trolleybuses on route №3 "West 6th Street – Central Avenue" will run at 2-minute intervals during rush hour.

The Los Angeles Incline Railway funicular line was opened, connecting Hill Street and Olive Street.
