Nach 7,5 Jahren Betrieb wurde die 6,1km lange Magnetbahn zwischen dem Terminal 1 und Yongyu (용유) stillgelegt, zuletzt wurden die Betriebszeiten aufgrund sehr geringer Fahrgastzahlen zurückgesetzt. Von einst 51 Fahrtenpaaren am Tag wurde im Jahr 2022 nur noch 12x gefahren (7x am Morgen und 5x am Abend). Die anstehenden Instandsetzungs-/Revisionsarbeiten brachten die vorerst temporäre Einstellung. Es gab zwar offiziell Pläne zur Reaktivierung, doch diese wurden bisher nicht verfolgt. Die Zukunft dieser Magnetbahn bleibt ungewiss.

Am 13.04.2023 erfolgte der Spatenstich und der offizielle Baubeginn der künftigen "Wirye Line" — der ersten Straßenbahn in Südkorea nach der Stilllegung des Betriebs im Jahre 1968.
Die künftige 5,4km lange Straßenbahnstrecke wird 12 Stationen bedienen, dies durchweg ohne Oberleitung und im Batteriebetrieb.

The Incheon Airport Maglev Line opened on February 3, 2016. The line is 6.1 km (3.8 mi) long, with six stations, and operating speed of 110 km/h (68 mph). Two more extensions are planned at 9.7 km and 37.4 km. Once completed, it will become a circular line.
