Construction has begun on the new 18-mile North Hollywood – Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line.
The route has 22 stops and connects the following cities: North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock and Pasadena.
The route will have transfers to the G Line in North Hollywood and the A Line, Memorial Park stop.
The route will be served by 16 units of 40-foot electric buses, located in Metro Division 9.
Currently, construction is in the design and utility survey phase. The planned opening date is 2028.

Metro Line D has reopened. Trains will run at intervals of 8 to 12 minutes, as was previously the custom. The express bus route has been canceled.

J Line and electric bus services have been fully resumed. Metro Local bus routes are expected to return to service closer to June 20.

Light rail service has been restored, and the Chinatown, Union Station, and Little Tokyo/Arts District stations have reopened. However, bus routes 4, 28, 33, 40, 45, 70, 78, and 92 remain suspended. J Line buses and electric buses continue to be rerouted around the downtown area.

Union Station, Chinatown, and Little Tokyo/Arts District stations on the A and E light rail lines are temporarily closed due to migrant protests that have erupted in Downtown Los Angeles. Express buses and J Line electric buses are being rerouted, resulting in travel times increasing by approximately 20 minutes. Bus routes 4, 28, 33, 40, 45, 70, 78, and 92 are currently suspended.

The new LAX/Metro Transit Center station has opened on the C and K Lines. This station connects the northern and southern segments of the K Line, enabling continuous service between Expo/Crenshaw and Redondo Beach. It also serves as the new terminus for C Line light rail trains.

The D Line subway will be closed from May 17 through July 25 due to construction work related to the line’s extension. The closure is part of the project to extend the D Line to the new Wilshire/La Cienega station. During this period, express bus service will be provided as an alternative for riders, and trains on the B Line will run more frequently.

The city has launched operation of new BYD K9MD ER electric buses. The “ER” designation indicates an extended battery range compared to the standard BYD K9MD model, which has been in service since 2021. A total of 95 buses will be delivered, with approximately 40 assigned to the J Line and the remainder deployed on Metro Local routes, fully replacing the aging NABI 45C CNG fleet. The new electric buses will be maintained at Divisions 9, 13, and 18.

Five BYD K11M electric buses have entered service on the G Line. These 60-foot (18-meter) articulated buses offer a range of up to 190 miles (300 kilometers) per charge. They are equipped with air conditioning, USB charging ports, and air suspension for improved passenger comfort. The buses are maintained at Metro’s Division 8 facility in Chatsworth.

Van Nuys Station on the G Line electric busway is temporarily closed for reconstruction. As part of the project, the station will be converted into an elevated facility, with completion expected in 2027. In the meantime, electric buses are operating along Oxnard Street.

Metro has signed a three-year contract with Anser Advisory Consulting LLC for the construction management of electric bus charging infrastructure. The contract follows the Design-Build-Operate-Maintain (DBOM) model, with a maximum funding amount of $6,012,000. Phase 1 includes the installation of 120 charging units at Metro’s Division 9. Subsequent phases will involve the electrification of Metro’s Division 18 and Division 7.

Los Angeles Metro has decided not to procure additional CRRC HR4000 trainsets.
Instead, in January 2024, the agency placed an order with Hyundai Rotem for 182 cars of the next-generation CRRC HR5000 model. The first units are expected to enter service ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games, with the full fleet scheduled to be in operation by 2030.

Metro Awards Contract №17 to BYD Coach & Bus LLC for High-Power Charging Infrastructure. Metro has awarded Contract No. 17 to BYD Coach & Bus LLC for the installation of four 360 kW chargers at Metro’s Division 9 and four 450 kW chargers at the El Monte Transit Center.
The total value of the contract is $6,470,000.

Two New CRRC HR4000 Railcars Delivered to Metro Division 20
Metro’s Rail Division 20 has received two additional CRRC HR4000 railcars, numbered 4005 and 4006.
The car shells are manufactured in Changchun, China, with final assembly taking place in Springfield, Massachusetts.
A portion of the vehicle components are locally sourced and integrated in City of Industry, California.
Test runs are scheduled to begin as early as December this year.

Three downtown underground LRT stations have been already opened. These are Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill, Historic Broadway, Little Tokyo/Arts District stations, built under the brand of The Regional Connector Transit Project. Thus, the two previously separated LRT networks (A and E line on one hand, and the former L line on the other) are now connected. Two through-running services have been introduced:

A Line — Downtown Long Beach — APU/Citrus College, 78.1 km (48.5 miles),
E Line — Downtown Santa Monica — Atlantic, 35 km (22 miles).

Thereby, the A Line has become the world's longest tram/streetcar/LRT line (78.1 km/48.5 miles), surpassing the previous record holder of Kussttram (Coastal Tram) in Belgium (69 km).

The first five BYD K9MD battery-electric buses have entered service on the J Line, part of Los Angeles Metro's bus rapid transit network. These zero-emission buses are 40 feet (12 meters) long and have a range of up to 160 miles (260 km) on a single charge. The buses are operated out of Metro’s Division 9 in El Monte and Division 18 in Carson. Due to their limited battery range, they currently operate only on route 910, running between El Monte Station and the Harbor Gateway Transit Center.

The G Line, a dedicated bus rapid transit route in Los Angeles, has been fully converted to zero-emission electric bus service. The line is now operated exclusively with New Flyer XE60 battery-electric buses. These articulated vehicles are 60 feet (18 meters) long and offer a driving range of up to 150 miles (240 km) on a single charge. Each bus is equipped with USB charging ports, air conditioning, and air suspension for enhanced passenger comfort. A total of 40 XE60 units are currently in operation, all based out of Metro's Division 8 facility in Chatsworth.
The G Line electrification project had a total budget of $80 million. Of that, $60 million was allocated for the purchase of the vehicles—at a cost of approximately $1.5 million per bus—while the remaining $20 million funded the upgrades to Division 8 and the installation of charging infrastructure at key stations: Chatsworth, Canoga, and North Hollywood.

Линия получила новое обозначние A Line, вместе с этим изменена нумерация других линий скоростного трамвая и метро:
Blue Line стала A Line,
Red Line стала B Line,
Green Line стала C Line,

Expo Line стала E Line,
Gold Line стала L Line.

Таже изменили обозначения линии "скоростного автобуса" Orange Line и Silver Line, они стали G Line и J Line соответственно.

Metro has signed a contract for the delivery of 64 CRRC HR4000 railcars totaling $178 million. The agreement includes a built-in option that could expand the order to 282 cars for a total of $647 million.
The new trains are intended to serve the D Line extension as well as replace the first generation of aging Breda A650 vehicles. The expected entry into service is 2020.

A serious accident occurred on the Angels Flight funicular line: the Sinai car detached from the cable and collided with Olivet. As a result, an 83-year-old passenger was killed and six others were injured. The funicular has been closed indefinitely.
