The construction of a tram line has officially begun in Alanya. The first stage of work has started on the main city thoroughfare, Atatürk Street, where underground communications are already being moved and the foundation for future rails is being prepared.

The new tram is to connect the eastern and western parts of the city, ease traffic along the coast and reduce traffic jams. The project is being implemented as part of the city’s transport development program, and the launch of the first section is planned for the coming years.

Local authorities promise that the tram will be modern, safe and comfortable — with air conditioning, barrier-free entrance and the ability to pay by card.
