07.01.2026 В связи с реконструкцией Петербургского шоссе трамваи № 2 и № 4 в направлении Копли и Тонди временно не останавливаются на остановке Вяйке-Паала.
Изменение действует до 30.04.2026.
10.11.2025 С ноября 2025 года Tallinna Linnatransport (TLT) устанавливает на конечной остановке Kopli четыре новые опоры с несущими тросами и контактной сетью для зарядки аккумуляторных троллейбусов. Стоимость работ — 140 000 евро, завершение — весна 2026 года.
Проект создаёт предпосылки для восстановления троллейбусной линии № 9 и закладывает основу для возможного возобновления других маршрутов в будущем.
Линия № 9 (Kopli — Keskuse) будет восстановлена осенью 2026 года с вводом в эксплуатацию 40 новых аккумуляторных троллейбусов, поступление которых ожидается летом 2026 года.
26.10.2025 В Таллине активно монтируют контактную сеть на ветке Мустамяэ. Инфраструктура будет готова к запуску троллейбусов весной-летом 2026 года, что расширит сеть общественного транспорта в районе.
В долгосрочной перспективе центр города освободят от проводов: контактные линии завершатся у ТЦ «Кристийне» и ипподрома. Далее троллейбусы перейдут на автономный ход с аккумуляторами, обеспечивая экологичное и бесперебойное движение без визуального загрязнения улиц.

07.10.2025 В Таллиннском аэропорту 7 ноября состоялась церемония по случаю открытия второго разворотного кольца, благодаря которому в будущем в аэропорт можно будет пустить трамваи двух линий. Сейчас добраться до аэропорта на трамвае невозможно. Трамвайное сообщение планируется возобновить следующим летом, когда будет готов пассажирский терминал Rail Baltic и завершатся другие работы по строительству терминала в Юлемисте.

Company-carrier
Tallinn Public Transport Co (TLT) was founded in 2012 by merging Tallinn Bus Company and Tallinn Tram- and Trolleybus Company. It is a municipal transportation company whose main purpose is providing public transport services in Tallinn.

Route network
Today there are four tram routes in operation.
Route № 1: Kopli — Kadriorg (Opened on current route 11.1953)
Route № 2: Kopli — Suur-Paala (Opened on current route 10.1970, renamed 01.05.2017)
Route № 3: Tondi — Kadriorg (Opened on current route 01.1957)
Route № 4: Tondi — Lennujaam (Opened on current route 01.09.2017)

One tram route has been closed.
Route № 5: Kopli — Vana-Lõuna (In service 28.10.2000 - 31.12.2003)

Tram service starts at 04:50 in the morning and the last tram arrives at the depot at 01:08.

Tram infrastructure
Consists of two depots: Vana-Lõuna depot and Kopli depot. Vana-Lõuna depot was opened in 1922 and until 1936 it housed only petrol-powered trams. In 1936, when Kadriorg depot was closed, all electric trams were transferred to Vana-Lõuna. Kadriorg depot existed from 1888 to 1936. Kopli depot was opened in 1914. Vana-Lõuna depot contains tram repair workshops, administrative buildings and parking tracks. It serves all four routes and also houses the tram museum. The smaller Kopli depot serves routes 1 and 2, and tram maintenance is also carried out there. Track gauge: 1067 mm.

Currently in service on city lines: CAF Urbos AXL, Tatra KT4D, Tatra KT4TMR, Tatra KT4TM, Tatra KT6TM. Previously also operated: Tatra KT4SU, Tatra T4SU, various models from German manufacturers Gotha and Lowa, trams built in Tallinn, and horse-drawn trams (konka).

General information about tram history
24.08.1888: First horse tram (konka) started operating on route Vene turg — Narva maantee — Salongi (Weizenbergi) tänav — Liiva (Poska) tänav. Horse trams operated until 1918.
September 1915: Kopli trams have their own history. By 1915 around 15,000 people lived in the area, mostly workers of the Russo-Baltic shipyard. The factory built a tram line from its gate to Telliskivi street, and in September 1915 steam trams began operating there. More about wide-gauge rolling stock (in Estonian/Russian)
13.05.1921: Tram service resumed in the city centre, initially with motorised trams.
28.10.1925: First electric tram line opened on Narva maantee.
July 1928: Tram routes received numbers for the first time (№1–3).
October 1931: Kopli line converted from 1524 mm railway gauge to 1067 mm tram gauge.
May 1949: Turning triangle opened at Tõnismägi; became terminus for route 1, and from 1954 for route 3; removed in 1957.
November 1951: Route №4 (Kopli – Balti jaam) electrified; motorised trams continued until November 1953.
November 1953: Kopli line extended to Viru väljak and route №1 Kopli – Kadriorg opened.
July 1955: Tartu mnt line extended to Ülemiste.
On 12 March 1960 a serious tram accident occurred in Tallinn when tram №4 (44+144) coming down the Lasnamäe slope approached Lubja stop too fast, failed to negotiate the curve and overturned. Several people were seriously injured. Car 44 was written off, trailer 144 repaired. On 24 July 1965 a similar accident happened to tram №1 (42+149) near Linnahall; one person died. Both cars were written off. Investigation concluded the high floor of the domestic-built trams contributed to instability. The model was urgently withdrawn and replaced; the last one ran in August 1967, succeeded by Gotha G4-61 trams from East Germany.
October 1970: Routes №2 and №4 in city centre rerouted from A. Laikmaa tn to Maneeži tn.
2015–2017: New tram line built from Majaka põik via Peterburi tee to the airport; route №4 Tondi – Lennujaam opened on 01.09.2017.

Trolleybus

Route network
Currently four trolleybus routes operate in Tallinn.
Route №1: Mustamäe - Mustamäe tee - Kaubamaja (Opened on current route 01.11.1977)
Route №3: Mustamäe - Sõpruse pst - Kaubamaja (Opened on current route 01.11.1977)
Route №4: Keskuse - Balti jaam (Opened on current route 28.11.1992)
Route №5: Mustamäe - Balti jaam (Opened on current route 25.08.1971)

Five trolleybus routes have been closed.
Route №2: Mustamäe - Estonia (Last version 26.06.1969 - 30.11.2012, replaced by bus routes №24 and №24A)
Route №6: Väike-Õismäe - Kaubamaja (Last version 01.10.1983 - 31.12.2015, replaced by bus route №42)
Route №7: Väike-Õismäe - Balti jaam (Last version 11.05.1981 - 31.12.2015, replaced by bus route №43)
Route №8: Väike-Õismäe - Vabaduse väljak (Last version 30.06.1982 - 31.03.2000, replaced by bus route №22)
Route №9: Keskuse – Kopli (Last version 28.11.1992 - 01.05.2017, replaced by bus route №72)

Trolleybus service starts at 04:50 and the last trolleybus arrives at the depot at 00:42.

Trolleybus infrastructure
Consists of one depot on Paldiski maantee, officially opened in 1973 (first trolleybuses already there in 1968). Contains repair workshops and administrative buildings; serves all four routes. From 1965–1968 trolleybuses were kept in a temporary depot on Ädala street. A second depot on Mustamäe tee opened on 30.12.1982 (originally planned for trams) and closed in 2001.

Currently in service: Solaris trolleybuses. Previously operated: ZiU-5, Škoda 9Tr, Ikarus 280.93, Ikarus 415.T1, Ikarus 412.82, YuMZ T1, Škoda 14Tr and Škoda 15Tr.

Historical information
06.07.1965: Trolleybus service opened with the first vehicle running on route Teater Estonia – Hipodroom.
October 2002: New city-centre routing introduced: Estonia puiestee - Kaubamaja tn - Rävala puiestee - Teatri väljak - Estonia puiestee.
