2025	At some time between 2024 September and 2025 March, the previously unused trolleybus line between the junction at Somun-dong and Sohamhung (total length 1.2 km) is placed into operation again, around 20-30 years after regular trolleybus services ceased on this line.
09.2024	The South Hamgyong Provincial Party Committee undertakes an extensive trolleybus repair program, conducting repair works on several dozen trolleybuses and normalising operation of trolleybus services.
2019	Overhead support poles updated.

Hamhung trolleybus system has two independent lines.
The 8,1 km-long (two-way) innercity line Hoeyang — Doksong opened in 1973. The depot is located at the northeastern Hoeyang terminal.
The intercity network between the cities of Hamhung and Hungnam opened 27.07.1991. The line begins at the Main Railway Station in Hamhung. Previously this network had two branches in Hungnam — to Hungdok, and to Ryongsung. Total length of the lines was about 15 km. The Ryongsung branch closed around early 2000s and was dismantled. The exact location of the Ryongsung terminal remains unknown. The remaining Hamhung — Hungdok line is 10,3 km-long. The depot is located at the outer Hungdok terminal.
A 1,2 km-long non-revenue connector exists between the two lines, but regular movements over this line are not maintained.
As of 2013 approximately 28 trolleybuses operated in Hamhung.
In addition, the approximately 22 km-long electrified narrow gauge rail line carries passenger traffic between Hamhung and Hungnam, Soho Station.

Троллейбусная сеть состоит из двух независимых линий.
Внутригородская линия Hoeyang — Doksong длиной 8,1 км. (в двупутном исчислении) открыта в 1973 г. Депо находится на северо-восточной конечной Hoeyang.
Междугородная сеть, соединяющая Hamhung с городом Hungnam, открылась 27.07.1991. Линия начинается от ж.д. вокзала Hamhung. Ранее сеть имела два ответвления в городе Hungnam — на Hungdok, и на Ryongsung. Общая длина сети составляла около 15 км. Ответвление на Ryongsung закрылось предположительно в начале 2000-х гг. и было разобрано. Точное местоположение конечной в Ryongsung остаётся неизвестным. Оставшаяся линия Hamhung — Hungdok составляет 10,3 км. в длину. Депо находится в Hungdok.
Между двумя линиями существует служебное соединение длиной 1,2 км. Регулярное движение по данной служебной линии не осуществляется.
По состоянию на 2013 г. в городе работает около 28 троллейбусов.
Кроме того, пассажирское движение осуществляется по электрофицированной узкоколейной ж.д. между Hamhung и станцией Soho в городе Hungnam. Общая длина линии прибл. 22 км.
