19.02.2022	Bumbești-Jiu: Publication of tender for purchase of 3 electric buses (8m) through the Regional Operational Program, Priority Axis 4 of the REGIO Program 2014-2020. 30.06.2022: contract was signed with Anadolu Automobil ROM (romanian importator for Anadolu Isuzu). 07.06.2023: all electric buses were delivered.
28.10.2021	Rovinari: Publication of tender for purchase of 3 electric buses (8m) through the Regional Operational Program, Priority Axis 4 of the REGIO Program 2014-2020. 18.01.2022: contract was signed with Anadolu Automobil ROM (romanian importator for SOR Libchavy). 12.2022: all electric buses were delivered.
24.09.2021	Târgu Jiu: Publication of tender for purchase 15 trolleybuses (6 classic and 9 with batterries) (12m) through the Regional Operational Program, Priority Axis 4 of the REGIO Program 2014-2020. 17.02.2022: contract was signed with Solaris Bus & Coach. 10.06.2023: all trolleybuses were delivered.
10.03.2021	Târgu Jiu: Publication of tender for purchase 9 trolleybuses with batteries (12m) through the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration. 09.08.2021: contract was signed with Solaris Bus & Coach. 01.2023: all trolleybuses were delivered (Târgu-Jiu 1627 — Târgu-Jiu 1635).
11.09.2020	Târgu Jiu: Publication of tender for purchase 11 trolleybuses (12m) through the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration. 19.01.2021: contract was signed with Solaris Bus & Coach. 22.11.2021: all trolleybuses were delivered (Târgu-Jiu 1616 — Târgu-Jiu 1626).

Coat of arms of Târgu Jiu

Târgu Jiu is a city in the Southwest of Romania and the capital of the Gorj country. It was first named in a document in 1406 and has today about 80.000 inhabitants. Since 1992 there is a university in the city.

As one of certain Romanian cities, Târgu Jiu received a small trolleybus system in the middle of the 1990s. The first 8.9 kilometer line opened in June 1995. It connects the „9th May“ residential area in the South with the railway station, the city centre and the Artego industrial zone in the North of the city. The second trolleybus track was created as a junction from the city centre to Bârsești at Romcim factory and has a length of 3.8 kilometers. It opened in December 1999.

Until the year 2021, the fleet of vehicles consisted of 17 domestic Rocar trolleybuses, 12 Rocar 217E and 5 Rocar 212E. Following the investments to modernize public transport in the city, 35 new Solaris Trollino trolleybuses were purchased in two stages. Of these 35, 17 units have Skoda engines and 18 units have Medcom engines and batteries for a minimum range of 23 km. Currently, trolleybuses can be found on all transport routes in the municipality, but also on routes in the metropolitan area.
