15.09.2022	Conversion of trolleybus line 6 between Autostazione and Santi to diesel bus operation (bus line 15), line 6 from now on only runs between Autostazione and Via Chinnici; in addition, lines 6 and 11 are now permanently diverted via Viale Vittorio Veneto, the inner-city route via Corso Canalchiaro and Corso Duomo is no longer served.
12.02.2020	Arrival of the first of ten new trolleybuses Solaris Trollino 12 IV (Kiepe) No. 35.
11.04.2012	Extension of line 6 by approximately 500 meters from the terminus Via Forli to the new loop Via Chinnici.
02.07.2007	Opening of the extension of line 7 between Policlinico and Via Gottardi.
13.05.2000	Reopening of the trolleybus system in Modena with new Autodromo articulated trolleybuses on line 7 after a five-year break of electric operation.

First trolleybus services were implemented in 1950, substituting the tramway system which was considered outdated. The network never took any particular risk of closure, unlike many other comparably sized Italian cities, being a significant part of the public trasport in the city.
