24.03.2025	The first electric buses have entered the city streets. The Ethiopian capital has ordered 100 vehicles. The local company Belayneh Kindie Metal Engineering Complex assembled them using components from the Chinese company Golden Dragon.
22.09.2015	Открытие первой линии скоростного трамвая от станции Menelik II Square до станции Kality (маршрут Север-Юг). • The first Light Rail segment between Menelik II Square & Kality (the North — South Line) opens.

On 13-15 April 2025 only 17 cars have been observed in service, while 22 cars where claimed to be potentially available for service out of 41 in the fleet. Operable cars observed: 102,105,108,110,111,119,120,208 (Green line, Ayat Depot) and 201,202,204,211,212,213,217,218,219 (Blue line, Kality Depot). Car 208 has been crudely repainted in green-and-white to be used on the Green line and transferred to the Ayat Depot.

Operations' stats as of 15.04.2025:

Green Line:
105 min. roundtrip runtime.
Weekdays: 7 cars / 15 min. service.
Weekends: 6 cars / ~17 min. service.

Blue Line:
120 min. roundtrip runtime.
Weekdays: 8 cars / 15 min. service.
Weekends: 7 cars / ~17 min. service.

Power outages and delays are rampant, with most lasting under 1 hr. Common practice is to operate one car at-a-time per particular power supply segment of the line, with other cars holding at stations. Total service shutdowns for entire days due to power unavailable are possible.
