It is my understanding that during reconstruction of the system the busiest stations where widened by way of preserving the island platform for only one direction of travel, while adding one side-platform for the other direction of travel.

Насколько я понимаю, при реконструкции системы самые загруженные станции были расширены посредством сохранения островной платформы только для одного направления движения, и добавления одной боковой платформы для другого направления движения.
