When did they start running four and five car trains in Edmonton? The oldest photo I've found here on the site dates back to 2011: https://transphoto.org/photo/443947/ , but I don't know if this was the case before then.

I also discovered this by accident: in the tram, there is no possibility to look forward because the cabin is completely closed. So one could only see laterally and then more or less guess whether it is a useful photo location.
Not only was my guess right, but I was also lucky that the sun was in a perfect position at that time (morning). Later in the day, this would not have been the case.
The frequency of the tram is only moderate and here too I was very lucky that nothing or nobody came into my view. That too is not at all a self-evident fact in city traffic...

Very interesting. Most likely an in-service 'delivery' of an extra car to/from the terminal. This is sometimes practiced by some light rail carriers in the US. For instance, in Sacramento and Phoenix. However, considering the location of this photo and the time of the day it was shot, so far I was unable to discern the logic behind this move. The line is 2 miles long carrying just over 1000 people a day. Its off the light rail line.
The S Line, or S-Line (formerly known as Sugar House Streetcar), is a public transit streetcar line in northeastern Salt Lake County, Utah, in the United States, that connects the business district of the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City with the neighboring city of South Salt Lake, as well as the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) TRAX light rail system. It is a joint project between UTA, Salt Lake City, and South Salt Lake. It opened for service on December 8, 2013.

TRAX has 50 stations on three lines. The Blue Line provides service from Downtown Salt Lake City to Draper. The Red Line provides service from the University of Utah to the Daybreak Community of South Jordan. The Green Line provides service from Salt Lake City International Airport to West Valley City.
