10.09.2025	The municipality council of Nazaré has suspended the town's funicular service until further notice, citing "the need for national evaluation of cable transport equipment" following the tragic incident of Ascensor da Glória in Lisbon.
01.04.1968	Reopening of the funicular after reconstruction with modernized vehicles, electric drive and new braking systems.
15.02.1963	Temporary closure of the funicular due to a serious accident caused by a broken cable, leaving two dead and 50 injured.
