It's very complicate to explain, ATAC (the public operator) was afflicted

It should be added that the stalemate led to no longer having engineering offices in ATAC and in the Roma Municipal Mobility Agency with delays of at least 4/5 years on the start of works for the tram and metro.
It is then useless to add the complications of any work when is going to touch the archaeological layer or the monuments of the city.
Now we have pending only for the trams and metro:
1 line under tender
2 lines are going in September for tenders
1 line are ending the project in October
5 lines under preliminary project.

Of course, it will be one of the biggest tram order in EU of the last 2 decades.

We don't know yet, ATAC opened the envelopes of technical proposal in June and the envelopes for economic prospects 2 weeks ago.
I personally hope for Stadler.
Fiat Ferroviaria/Alstom has already given problems with the 9200 series…
Ansaldo trains for the metro A line have never worked…

Actually there is currently an order for 121 new trams with the first 40 by early 2025.
The others are for 3 new lines, one of which is already in the call for tenders.

Not yet because for now is running only one line and there is no loop at one end. Eventually are going to come back on duty when all the network will be operable again.

The Solari have huge problems with the batteries (are to expensive to buy a new one), so the company are trying (wee need the municipal, court of justice and transportation ministry approve) to move all the series to the new line and have the Breda in service on 90 and 60.

On the 90 are in service the Trollino (not on the weekend) and the Breda, on the 74 only the Breda. There are two depots, Tor Pagnotta (you can see inside from the bridge where is the 74) where are based the Breda and Montesacro where you can find the Trollino and sometimes some Breda.
There is no connection between the depot and the line, just a small section for test you can find inside Tor Pagnotta.
Laurentina terminus is without overhead for two reason 1) chief engineer 2) the metro station is just under and to place the poles a special project and seismic analysis was needed (no money for this)
The new line 74 is 10/11 min

This is a trolleybus, in this photo you can't see the trolley because it's walking with the auxiliary motor (inside the city wall there are problems for the wires). The main propulsion system is electric with the use of trolleys. All trolleybus in Italy have an auxiliary system and a motor is preferred to the batteries because it is more economical. In Rome, trolleybuses with the possibility of running without wires also existed in the 1940s.
Also this trolleybus has a diesel engine as an electric generator and not batteries.

Yes, is the back of the tunnel machine. The NG rails are just for the works. The C line has a standard gouge tracks but with a narrow section of the train's body.

For the rest I agree about the problems of the Mafia and our arrogance and disinterest in many things (especially historical beauties and tourism).
Corruption is present in many countries but since the 80s in Italy has reached absurd levels. This great corruption has led to bad work or jeopardizing many industries. Before the '80s, the bribes were less than 20% of public orders, after it also came to exceed 40%.

The series was in service until 2015 (the last 2/3 were officially stopped in 2017). This is the last series, we have this mini buses in the center from 1998.
For the financial problem of the public transport company, when the Gulliver started to need new batteries, it was decided to don't change it temporary and waiting. Now the municipality found some moneys and the company started and overhaul of the electric fleet (there are the same problems with the Solaris Trollino that have the batteries too).
For the service there were the line in the center (116, 117 and 119) but are mainly for the tourist (and with all the problems that there are now they can walk)

They have 4+4+2 seats.
Tecnobus is an Italian company that builds electric mini buses. Lat of city have/had it for the narrow street of the historical center.
This is just a revamping of the 2010 fleet, because with the financial problems of the company all the fleet is out of service.
The bus did/will do service on the lines inside of the old city where the normal bus can't run.
